Fish Lake & Eight of Us!

Today’s kayaking adventure was absolutely perfect! Two of my kayaking friends coordinated the entire event, which included a total of eight people and enough kayaks for everyone to use! The weather was absolutely perfect and because of our recent rainfall, Fish Lake hasn’t receded at all! It just couldn’t get any better!!

I was the first one to arrive at Fish Lake today. I had my kayak off my vehicle, loaded with my necessities and ready to go. So, when others began to arrive, I was able to assist in any way I could. But, it was still a large effort to get everyone in the water. When I felt like I had done everything I could, I happily crawled in my kayak and paddled out into the water. The views were absolutely stunning!

I have never seen the vegetation so green. In fact, much of it was like a fluorescent green color. It was truly magical! The water was so calm with no wind and the the reflections upon the water were incredible! Breath taking, in fact!

As you leave the put in area and go right, you will come across a wood cabin.

I’ve always been more interested in my kayaking journey rather than this cabin. But, after some research on the internet, I found some interesting information. You can read about it here! Also, the cabin is available for rent. Talk about kayaking heaven – wowzers!

One of my favorite parts of kayaking here is going to the furthest north end. It is here that you can follow a channel of water that will lead you to the “end of the road” due to a massive log jam. When I visited last month, I couldn’t remember how to find it, but I went right to it this time. The photo on the left is the massive size of the log and the photo on the right is looking over the logs. I’ve always wondered just how much further you could kayak if those logs weren’t all jammed up right there.

Turning around from this point, I took another photo to show what the “channel” looks like. As the water level begins to go down, the channel gets narrower and you have to go slow to be sure and stay in the deeper water.

Again, as I’ve already mentioned, it’s so incredibly gorgeous here!

One of the things I have always found at this end of the lake is Canadian Geese. I’m not sure why they like it so much at this end, but they are always down there. But this time, there were easily 3 or 4 times as many as my previous visits. They were busy eating. They didn’t seem too worried about any of us. At one point, I spotted three babies with adults, but I just couldn’t get a good photo. However, I love the Canadian Geese. I’ve always felt they are very photogenic!

As we continued our kayaking adventure, I continued to be amazed by the sites and sounds of mother nature! It was just so incredibly beautiful!

One of the nice things to see at Fish Lake are the waterfalls. There are a number of them and as the foliage has grown and gotten thicker, they’re not as easy to see. But, I did get a nice shot of one of them. I always love the waterfalls!

When I’m kayaking, and it’s doesn’t matter where, I’m always on the lookout for something different. Well, today I spotted a beautiful wildflower that I haven’t seen before. It was truly gorgeous! I haven’t seen it here before, so it was a real treat for me!

My kayaking adventure today was 100% perfect. I met some new folks that were all awesome people! Everything about my journey was truly awesome! If you haven’t been to Fish Lake yet – go now! Remember, it will begin to dry up and then won’t be full of water again until next Winter.
